I thought I'd share the process we went through to get our kitty a pet passport for anyone who might be considering/needing one for their furry friend. I have to say it's far more straight forward than I thought it would be, for us we needed a EU Pet Passport. The reason we need a pet passport is because we are moving from the UK to Germany and wouldn't dream of leaving Gigi here.
First thing we did was ring the DARD (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) and have them send us the application, it's only one page and very straight forward (no heaps of paperwork). We then got an appointment with the vets arranged. For us we had to make sure little Gigi has had both her kitten vaccinations with proof (this was very important), a rabies injection (again with proof)& a microchip. The rabies vaccination must be given at least 28 days prior to travelling with a maximum of a year before. For more information regarding regulations click here.
Your pet passport will be sent directly to your vets who then fill in the relevant information & sign it. Then your all ready to go (bar the 48hr prior to travel check up to make sure your pet is fit for travelling).

Rabies Injection - £16
Microchip - £10
Pre-travel check up - £5
The passport itself is free
