Avon Nail Wear Review

Halli Hallo

I'm a big fan of having my nails painted but I don't like spending too much on beauty related products so am always searching for nail varnish that does the job in a pretty colour at a reasonable price (under £8 imo).

I used to work for Avon Cosmetics so I have tried lots from their range including their nail varnish collections. They have a pretty broad spectrum of colours (+25) and are affordable (£6 RRP but are very often on offer for £3).They have 4 main ranges of nail varnish; nailwear pro, colortrend, speeddry+ & matte. They also have seasonal colours.

The Review:
For this review I'm going to focus on nailwear pro (the rest are very similar though). If you'd like to check out their range click here, currently on sale for £2.99. First thing to note is the extensive range of colours, this I was very delighted with.

Packaging wise they come in cute clear bottles, with a nice round brush, I found the bottles easy to open and close with no mess. Application was straight forward, drying time I found to be average. The actual colours themselves are very pigmented, 2 coats are defiantly sufficient. Wear was better than average, I could wear it for around 2-3 days before any chips arrived (this is with me not being particularly careful of my nails - doing dishes etc). Overall I like these, they may not be my all time favourite but I do think they are totally worth the money.

Overall score: 7/10

The two day drive

Halli Hallo..

Soo that time has finally come and as I write this post I am in fact in my new home (or well my with my parents) in Germany! Yes that's right I'm here safe and sound.

As I not only had to bring myself over but all of our stuff my lovely mother and sister drove all the way from Germany in a van to pick me up.  Now we're talking about a two day car journey here (eek I know). To clarify things it's around 1000miles of driving, that includes a ferry, the eurotunnel and a night's stay in England.

DAY 1:
We had a lovely early start at 5am and first thing after breakie of course we had to get a ferry from Belfast over to Scotland. I'm not a fan of ferrys (they go super slow and make me feel seasick) but thankfully the journey only took 2 hours, which I guess isn't too bad. It was a lovely morning too so we has great views over Larne harbour.

From then on it's just continues driving down through Scotland and then England to the south coast. This is where we stayed the night. We stayed in a Premier Inn near Dover (only around a 10 mins drive from the eurotunnel). I couldn't wait for my bed that day and I can assure I was out like a light within seconds.

DAY 2:
After another early start at around 5am we got breakfast at the Premier Inn and I have to admit it was delicious (couldn't ask for a better start to the day). Shortly after we got the eurotunnel, this was all very easy & straight forward - so simple. The entire way through to France we didn't have our passports checked and had no security checks - GREAT. We went through the self check in and they simply give you tag you hang on your mirror which has marked on it with a little paw on it to show that you have animal on board (this was the only time Gigi had been acknowledged - they didn't even ask to see her passport or papers) then we drove on. The journey only lasted 40 mins and alas we were in central Europe - France. Here again we just drove straight off and onto the motorway (no checks)

From here on our journey continued through France, then Belgium. At this point the weather had turned for the worst and it was raining heavily - which at times made the journey tense considering we were travelling at 140km/ph. But as we were making our way towards the German boarder the weather settled and before I knew it we were in Germany and on an autobahn not far from our end destination. We finally made it at 10PM. So relieved to finally be here now, I'm loving it already.

Me being me I did of course take pictures along the way - so here they are!

TAG: Would you rather? Beauty Edition

Hallio Hallo....

It's time for another fun tag. The Would You Rather? - Beauty Edition. So without further ado here it goes.

1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
I'd rather lose the palettes and eyeshadows as I would be lost and I mean LOST without mascara & eyeliner. I look like a ghost without sufficient eye make-up.

2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Easy peasy. Never be able to cut it again. I am currently trying my very best to grow my hair out lovely and long so this is a no brainer for me. I love my hair.

3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Coral cheek. If you had asked me a year ago the answer would almost 100% have been pink but there you go - tastes change.

4.) If you had £1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Clothes, I don't know why but for some reason I'd feel better about that, seems like I only need so much make-up and well clothes you can never have to much of.

5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Eyeliner as lipstick for sure, is the opposite even possible?

6.) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Well given that I shop at neither since I don't have the spare dosh, I would be very happy to only shop at either. There are plenty of things I'd love to give a try at both.

7.) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

One lip colour - RED. Technically speaking there are lots of different shades of red so I'm on to a winner here.

8.) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

Um summer clothes in winter? I don't know, Yeah I guess summer clothes in winter because I can always pop a coat over.

9.) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Dark nails. Totally dark nails. It's just me all over. I do like bright nails in summer but if I had to chose the darkside always wins.

10.) Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?

I'd rather give up my favourite lip product because I think good eye products are harder to come by than great lip products so I could happily live with my second favourite lip product. (Wow I feel like I typed 'product' a lot there)

11.) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Messy bun, I think it's a more 'au naturale' sorta look and I prefer that.

12.) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

Never use lipgloss, I'm not a big fan of it anyways - it's too sticky (somehow my hair always ends up glued to my lips)

13.) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

Haha, um. This is tough. No eyebrows. I never want to look like someone's being drawing on me (even if that was me) there isn't much that can be done with a sharpie I'm afraid - it would look ridiculous on me.

14.) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Without nail polish. Defiantly. I mean without make-up you'd just leave far too much bare, without nail polish it's only nails - nails are easier hidden than your face.

Book recomendations

Halli Hallo....

I have recently inherited an amazon kindle. Now I'm usually all about technology but when it comes to books I've always preferred actual books with that worn smell so therefore never ventured out to buy one of these hi-tech pretend books (as I used to refer to them as.

Well.... now that I have found myself with one, I need to fill it. And I hate to say it but I kinda like it, I won't lie it's very convenient to have all your favourite books in one light weight place.

So that brings me to this post. I'd be very grateful for book recommendations from you lovely internet peoples for me to go ahead and buy for my old but new to me kindle. I'm open to anything and everything.
