The two day drive

Halli Hallo..

Soo that time has finally come and as I write this post I am in fact in my new home (or well my with my parents) in Germany! Yes that's right I'm here safe and sound.

As I not only had to bring myself over but all of our stuff my lovely mother and sister drove all the way from Germany in a van to pick me up.  Now we're talking about a two day car journey here (eek I know). To clarify things it's around 1000miles of driving, that includes a ferry, the eurotunnel and a night's stay in England.

DAY 1:
We had a lovely early start at 5am and first thing after breakie of course we had to get a ferry from Belfast over to Scotland. I'm not a fan of ferrys (they go super slow and make me feel seasick) but thankfully the journey only took 2 hours, which I guess isn't too bad. It was a lovely morning too so we has great views over Larne harbour.

From then on it's just continues driving down through Scotland and then England to the south coast. This is where we stayed the night. We stayed in a Premier Inn near Dover (only around a 10 mins drive from the eurotunnel). I couldn't wait for my bed that day and I can assure I was out like a light within seconds.

DAY 2:
After another early start at around 5am we got breakfast at the Premier Inn and I have to admit it was delicious (couldn't ask for a better start to the day). Shortly after we got the eurotunnel, this was all very easy & straight forward - so simple. The entire way through to France we didn't have our passports checked and had no security checks - GREAT. We went through the self check in and they simply give you tag you hang on your mirror which has marked on it with a little paw on it to show that you have animal on board (this was the only time Gigi had been acknowledged - they didn't even ask to see her passport or papers) then we drove on. The journey only lasted 40 mins and alas we were in central Europe - France. Here again we just drove straight off and onto the motorway (no checks)

From here on our journey continued through France, then Belgium. At this point the weather had turned for the worst and it was raining heavily - which at times made the journey tense considering we were travelling at 140km/ph. But as we were making our way towards the German boarder the weather settled and before I knew it we were in Germany and on an autobahn not far from our end destination. We finally made it at 10PM. So relieved to finally be here now, I'm loving it already.

Me being me I did of course take pictures along the way - so here they are!
